The Casper College Women’s Soccer team launched. They are launching the foundational season of Region IX soccer with a win Wednesday against the Northwest College Lady Trappers in Powell 6-0.
Moreover, “this was an honest game for us,” said Head Coach Ammon Bennett. Consistent with Sophia Henely, Farr West, Utah, Bennett, two freshman players, and Sydney Hiatt, Heber City, Utah, each scored two goals. Millville, Utah, Samantha Wiser, and Abigail Tapia, Utah, West Valley City, each scored one.
However, according to Bennett, Tapia, freshman Lainey Smith, Douglas, Wyoming, Casper Kelly Walsh, Sophomore Kylie Spangler, and Pocatello, freshman Alexis Arroyo, Idaho all contributed with assists.
Furthermore, Worland, Wyoming, sophomore Karla Gaytan, had 75 shutout minutes. And freshman Ravyn Riffe, Spokane, Washington, had 15 to stay Powell from scoring.
“This game was an honest, solid start for us. We’ve needed to work on some things still to stiffen for our game this weekend,” said Bennett. “We were glad to be outside on some grass; we just wish we were home,” added Bennett.
However, this Saturday, the woman T-Birds will face the No. 4 ranked women’s soccer team within the country, the Laramie County junior college Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles beat Western Wyoming junior college 3-1 and Hill College 4-1.
The women began to play with two nonconference matches in Nevada on Saturday, 3rd April. They shut out the school of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes 1-0. The ladies lost in overtime to the Snow College Lady Badgers in their second game 1-0.
