This was because she had trouble making a decision. Ionescu made her final decision to attend the University of Oregon shortly before the start of the school’s summer term in 2016. She traveled with her father for eight hours from their home in the Bay Area to Eugene, where they paid an unannounced visit to Matthew Knight Arena and informed head coach Kelly Graves that she would be joining the team.
