Bristol City topped local rivals Bristol Rovers 2-1 in the first round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Wednesday night. While the play on the pitch went off without a hitch, the scene afterwards got a bit heated, as seen by the videos above and below. Pitch invasions, horses, shirtless youths; all the things one has come to expect from a proper bout of new-school English hooliganism where at times it almost looks like the fans involved are doing their best impersonations of the hooligans of the 70’s and 80’s rather than going well over the line as they did. And this is not a bad thing. While the behavior on display here isn’t great, at least no one was badly hurt, etc. as was often the case back in the day.

Anyway, read more about the night’s festivities here.
