Remember all the hullabaloo about the “supermarket” ball they used in the 2010 FIFA World Cup — the Adidas Jabulani? Well, they’ve been using that ball in MLS all season. Maybe, that’s why there have been so many great goals.
Columbus’s Josh Gardner made the Jabulani do that dance this afternoon — striking a dipping-swerving-bending ball past Seattle’s Kasey Keller. Golazo! The bad news for Gardner and the Crew, the Sounders were still up 5-2 after the goal. And then, just a minute later, Gardner buried another ball in the back of the net. Another clinical finish, but this time, it was in his own net. It was that kind of day for the Crew.
